Oh come on. That’s just completely absurd.
I mean are they that dumb to stand directly under a chair?? Maybe they should’ve asked people to drop their poles too. So they didn’t get hit when they dropped them.

Well, yes, to belay someone down from rhe chair, you're pretty much standing under it. Not directly, but close. If the OP's ever tried to climb a lift tower with regular alpine boots, well, he'd probably fiddle with the gun too.
