I ski MN 90% of my season. My current quiver which offers me plenty to choose from:
Local quiver:
Elan Wingman 82 CTi - 178cm
Elan Ripstick 88 - 180cm
Elan Ripstick 96 - 180cm
Nordica Soul Rider 87 - 185cm - mounted with 22 Designs Outlaw X tele bindings
Salomon Stance 90 - 182cm
Out West:
Elan Ripstick 106 - 181cm
Elan Ripstick 116 - 185cm
I sold some Blizzard Quattro 8.4's this fall. I found them boring. Great on the edge and held like wildcats, but no real fun factor - just kinda there. Heavy as hell too. Has some Salomon QST's I sold off last year - those were fun, but I overpowered them a little too often. Liberty had an Origin 90 I really liked - I think I was running 186m on those. I'd REALLY like to get on some of their Evolv 90 & 100's.
I don't ever find myself wishing for anything narrower than 80mm, even in MN. All the skis above would be 1 size longer (185-ish minimu) if I was skiing hills at least the size of Lutsen on a regular basis. I'm 6', 190#, strong skier, technical background.
