Unfortunately, and with much regret, I'm not going to be able to attend the gathering. Work obligations, budgetary concerns and most importantly a non-skiing wife who is currently working 2 jobs make it untenable. I am still going to try to get out there for at least a few days in late March or April.

At hotel - did my usual rent an AWD LCC approved vehicle, but desk clerk says with the deep snow coming chains required as well. Debating SKI BUS or go buy chains. Anyone else staying at the HYATT PLACE COTTONWOOD?

Never buy chains for a rental car.

Is your rental truly AWD or 4WD? All-season radials? Or - highly unlikely - snow tires? What shape are the tires in?

Make sure it has a snowbrush/ice scraper in it.

There are official - and more importantly, common sense rules.

My two cents is yeah, yer fine. The chain rule I think has been on the books for a bit, but not sure if it has ever been enforced. The hotel peeps have to state the official rule. If you have AWD and M + S tires which are in good shape, you are better off than most driving up and driving down. Now to address the peanut gallery…
