Thread drift alert...

What is the difference between Russian dressing and Thousand Island dressing? As part caveman, I like both.... but have wondered what the difference is? (I could Google it, but the information provided here is so much more entertaining....lol)
Just browsing this thread as my quarter end has gone pear shaped and I'm trying to distract myself from the misery.

Both are mayo/ketchup sauces, but the key extra flavour in Thousand Island is the sweet pickles, whereas in Russian dressing is the chili sauce and horseradish - so the Russian dressing tends towards a spicier flavour profile than the sweeter Thousand Island

Taking back to the seafood thread, or in this case river food, you haven't had fish stew until you've had Hungarian-style red pepper stew. It's the way to get rid of the damn catfish IMO.
