I swear to god that looks like a guy In a bear suit. Lived in Vermont and western Massachusetts for years and never saw a black bear on his hind legs like that. For those of you who remember Gene Shalit, he once called the police telling them burglars had broken into his house in Western Ma. Turns out he didn’t clean up after dinner and a black bear invited himself in for leftovers. @JCF might remember this.
That’s what I thought too. After looking closer, I think the young bear has an arm wrapped around a tree; thereby holding himself erect.

To thoroughly freak yourself out look at the body of a bear after it has been skined. Once you get by the head it looks positively human.
In college worked for AK fish and game a couple of summers. A biologist was the project leed he would shoot 2 or 3 bears a day. Still see those bodies hanging where he would skin them in my mind.

Beautiful!! And well maintained! I’m jealous as our local arboretum is poorly maintained.

Sunset, 19 may 2023, in the span of one day the smoke from the Canadian forest fires descended like a shroud on the Salt Lake valley.

You are correct, not a lot of NYC photos but I have posted a few back around the end of last year and the beginning of this year. What brings you to the Big Apple?
My son graduated from NYU on Tuesday/Wednesday. The Beacon and Yankee stadium for commencement. God bless the 4 /5 train. Lived there in the early 80’s and a lot of lifelong friends still live there including one generous enough to lend us their apartment. It is still an amazing place , and there is no place else like it - to this day I still run into people I know on the street. That never happens in L.A.
