Good point, though given that it was the biggest snow in Madrid in 50 years, I'm guessing the streets were deserted.

Feels kinda weird to have Women GS and SL World cup races almost in my home town, and not being on the hill there, but with all the rules about covid, it looks like no WC season for me this year, so I went to the mountain accross the valley and have some great powder turns. Maybe we did, or maybe we didn't cross the border between Slovenia and Austria on top of the hill, and maybe we did, or maybe we didn't ski some 400 height meters of great illegal powder in the other country

Slovenia-Austria border is just on the ridge of mountain in background (Slovenia - Sunny side of the Alps, Austria - shadow side of the Alps )

Kranjska Gora race track where I would be today, if it would be normal year, is just some 5km along the valley on right side of photo bellow.

Not sure if that counts as skintrack Probably not, but we did came quite high up with skis making skintrack

Skiing down this thing was actually more fun then climbing up, but climb itself was pretty cool too

I finally have some work later today with biathlon World Championships in neighborhood, and with some 30cm fresh snow yesterday, I decided it might be worth checking how sunrise looks up in mountains. Waking up at 5:00, and starting skinning up at 6:00 wasn't that much of fun, especially when I checked weather station located somewhere half way up to my mountain and it was showing -21c (based on log that I checked when I came back home, it dropped for another 2 degrees to -23c by the time I reached it). But when I came into last 200 or 300m of ascent it was light enough to see, noone was skiing yet from left peak, which is steeper, and which normally noone is skiing anyway, while everything was already tracked from peak that is super popular climb here, so quick change of plans, got extra 100m height meters of climb, so if I wanted to be up for sunrise, I needed to speed up a bit But it was well worth. Perfect and completely untouched snow, some slightly steeper terrain and almost 300m of awesome descent once, I enjoyed sunrise all alone on top of the mountain

Absolutely gorgeous this weekend on Buffalo Pass, CO. Great snow, great terrain (fun, but < 30*). Chilly to start, but the sun made it comfortable.

Nope, not there. We did get a good at one in Snowbird once. And plenty of times around here in Duluth.

Lifts were down but snow was up at Saddleback this morning, so I broke out the skins for a lap.

With a low snow year here in the upper Midwest, the warm spell we are having is wreaking havoc on the snow in the woods.
So, I took my girls up for one last time skinning up the mtb trail to ski down the groomers at Spirit Mtn.
Now that is done, we can only skin up the grooomers, but that is only allowed when the hill is closed, so hard to combine with school.
