@4ster I kinda envy you this snow. Yesterday weather forecast was promising 70cm for tomorrow... by today it's down to 30-35cm so we will see what we will really get on the end. I hope they are wrong and it will be 1m+ but somehow I think it's just wishful thinking.

Don’t be too envious. It was really nice for a few days then we got an East wind that scoured & crusted things up. We are still skiing but the Backcountry is kind of done for a while.
early November skiing is always a bonus around here. Looks like we may have some weather coming next week.

If you're not back down to bare dirt I have no sympathy.

Very jealous of all that snow. We had a good start here in the upper Midwest, but then most of it melted in the last few weeks.
I did just spend a week XC skiing with my kid’s high school XC team in West Yellowstone, MT. 70 high schoolers, 21 hours each way on 2 busses, 10 coaches, it sure was a big to do.

Since it was groomed and tracked, and I was using my skin skis for classic 6A8EED87-EADB-4186-BE6E-A836EA935087.jpeg D2855F31-C2DB-47B2-97D0-95E5B606410A.jpeg , I guess it counts as the ’skin track’:

Got out this morning to enjoy some fresh snow on a skinny little hiking trail that meanders next to the American River. Beautiful morning, not even the plow truck had been up the highway. We got some good snow a week ago, but then it rained, but the snow last night/this morning was enough to cover up the ice.

Woke up to a fresh 10” this morning of some of the lightest snow Ive ever experienced. No need to drive to the trailhead today, skied out the driveway up the forest road and into the hills. Still need another foot to cover the shrubs/rocks but the road and trails are skiing great. Slogging through mod-shin powder exhausted me quickly and I had a busy day so only got to ski for about 1.5 hours. The Cascades have been treating me well!
