Disclaimer, I did a search and couldn’t find anything except a length y I did it again post. About length!

I’m searching for new poles. Mine are circa 1992. So, I think, it’s high time I make an upgrade.
I’m looking for new poles for resort/on piste,/inbounds.use. I have a extendable retractable set that suit my side country/backcountry needs well

I don’t want a generic or gimmicky pole either. I want light durable, strong with a comfy and grippey grip. No break away straps, as I often offer a pull to snowboarders on the glats.

How important are poles really?
Their weight? I think is a huge issue, not like I want my poles to be weights, right? Durability is also a factor as I am somewhat clumsy in lift lines and I also lean on them quite a bit.

So which ones? As I’ve proven, I can make them last a long time, so I’m willing to spend a couple bucks., I just want a pole that is really nice

oh yeah, this is my first post too. No longer a virgin, or a post voyeur! Though I do like to watch…………ski movies!

oh and please excuse my punctuation or spelling. I’m writing this, sans contact lenses, + a few beverages.

Goode with breakaway detachable straps. But it's more important that they match your skis and boots.. I have a pole quiver.. Several different color schemes.. A pair of shortys for bumps and park.. A pair of adjustable for touring.. Scott The Ski, Kerma Rossi labeled, couple others with the retro gear..

Goode with breakaway detachable straps.

Now, what does that remind me of? Oh, right. ;)

Yes. Normal, metal, cheap honest LEKI poles.
QNTM for instance.
is there a SkiTalk discount? Or is it just a funnel to direct the sickness of propensity to buy?

As a touch point, literally, pole preference is very subjective. Might be worth the trouble to visit some shops and fondle a few models.

Generally there is a bit of tension between weight and durability, as you might expect. I'm liking the Grass Sticks that have been my daily drivers the last few years. The feel is good and the look is fun. Durability is TBD but I'll be surprised if I get ten years out of them. LEKI race poles hold up very well, but you might have trouble getting them with plain straps.

We do not have a discount at this time. We do have a pair of LEKI poles in our big contest which I'm sure you signed up for :)

You use the strap as part of that, versus both of you holding the pole or grip?

I was going to recommend these, as they're very popular and affordable - one day at Timberline, three of us all happened to have bought these. I have 2 pair myself. And they're lightweight aluminum, which I like over my composite poles... but they have breakaway straps.

EDIT: Just to be clear, they have a quick-release/adjust, but they are regular straps... NOT the trigger system.

I am a fan of Goode. Don’t know what happened to the pair in the photo posted earlier but that is not my experience.
Be prepared with easily replaceable straps, baskets & even tips but the poles themselves are light & extremely durable. They also have a few inches of length adjustment built into the grip which can be handy. Mine have literally a thousand days of hard skiing.

With that said practically every racer on the World Cup uses LEKI so that says something too!

Not only fondle in the shop. Try them out on the slope. Poles have individual feel that will suit different skiers.

Misplaced my 14 year old Alpina pole at Mammoth this spring. Went to my backup. A new pair of Holmenkol composite. Too much shock transferred.
Moved to backup #2. A pair of new LEKI D-shaped composite. Real nice feeling poles. The trigger release button take a bit getting use to. Especially when poling.
Would have gone to backup #3, a pair of Scott Series 4 aluminum pole if the LEKI didn't work out.
