Okay but .. 1.7 million?? 3-4 times what they make. (I just googled.)


I'm not a cardiologist, but google confirms that typically they "bypass" the heart during surgery so that a machine replaces the heart temporarily, allowing the heart to stop beating during the surgery. There's a less common technique that does allow surgery without the bypass, in which case the surgeon's comment is more accurate.
