Ha! It turns out I became old this year because the Dunkin' Donuts clerk rang me up as a senior without even asking me. That was 20% off I didn't want to have.
Years ago when I was 60 our neighbor went to a Chinese restaurant with us.. His hair was white as a ghost and he was 40.
We were astounded to see the bill. It showed he got the senior discount and we didn't !

^^I actually did that once upon a time. I called in and said that I'm feeling well today, I cannot come to work. The voice on the other end said I can't write that down should I write you called off sick? I said ok, I'm sick of work or I have eye problems, I can't see coming to work today.
You know it is acceptable if you went skiing. Other than that maybe if you went fishing it would be okay.

I have maintained the right to do this on any projects I have worked on the last 12 years. It is agreed upon going in.
Rarely pull that card, but do occasionally. Occasionally must remind managers of this benefit.

I once had a boss who was cool with that. One Sunday evening, the missus and I were having dinner with friends having dinner with friends and I said that I was going to call in well and ski the next day. One friend said "that's great - can I go with you?". She did and was greatly amused and delighted when I called my boss and told him that "I feel much too good today to come to work, I'm calling in well".
