Unfortunately it took our Jack Russell 5 times in a 2 week period to learn that lesson...

Fastest way to remove skunk smell from a dog is rub the dog in cooking oil (cheapest one available) and then shampoo the dog, usually gone on the first try if not the second. Oil dissolves the skunk smell, shampoo removes the oil containing the smell....Chemistry.
