For me it's like you've taken away my big valve Lotus Europa and have replaced it with a Chevy Camaro.
I know many don't know what the Lotus is but those that do know understand.

Mainstream

Ooh nice! The series 2 with the proper 1558 twin cam? Great engine. My mk2 escort rally car had the twin cam, all steelbottom end, rare BRM Head, dry sumped, and 45 dellortos

I presume I will soon have some SkiTalk glasses that will need to be trained in how to hold brown liquor for consumption by the much more experienced PugSki glasses. I wasn’t planning on any additional housebreaking tasks this year, but I’m up for the challenge.

Many congrats guys. Really happy for you.
We haven't ordered glasses yet. When we do, it will likely be a beer glass or wine glass.
Since many didn't see the rocks glass in the first run, it was voted to do it again last year.

A while back there was a thread that talked about the top ski websites and some other site finished first. Did research show that a name change might help in the rating of the community?
It was more about our searchability overall.

I prefer TalkSki another Polish name.
+1 and sit on the domain name
A quick check found that it already exists as a very quiet forum.

Am I the only one having a hard time warming up to those new stickers?

The way I see it, the old PugSki stickers on a helmet, when seen by someone not on the WWW reading ski forums, would appear to be a ski club. There is a cool factor with that.
I think the SKi:snow:Talk sticker on a helmet reads like an advertisement for a podcast or someone's youtube channel, not so cool.
:snowball:

#bring back PugSki! ;)

This is exactly why we don't want to abandon Pugski entirely. Hence the Powered by....

We understand the importance of the change, but don't want to abandon the grass roots.
Anyone who has Pugski logo is what we would consider a founding member. Without you we wouldn't have gotten this far.

I think you are in a great place to keep growing. I believe that because you keep politics out of the discussions and, as a consequence, the tone is much more civil (albeit, mostly), and focused on what we love.

I am also on an Australian and an UK forum. If you don’t subscribe to the orthodoxy on those forums, you get a lot of flaming.

So, yeah, keep doing what you are doing. It is working... at least for me.

Interestingly enough, I had more than one person say that they appreciate being able to come to Pugski because it was an oasis away from the craziness that consumes other sites on the web.

I'm a member on SnowHeads and SkiForum. AU.
I only have a few posts on the AU site, but had some history on SnowHeads.

To expand on @Tricia's points, treat people as if you are on the chairlift with them. I cannot tell you how many people, when they meet us in person say "You are exactly like you are on the site". That is one of the biggest compliments we can get.
