Fresh snow absorbs sound, lowering the ambient noise over a landscape because of trapped air between the snowflakes attenuates vibration. Thats why it gets so quiet when it snows.

I don't know what to say about that. Maybe for people that can't reach the skis if mounted on top of the vehicle.

It’s a good idea, though hitch mount is rough. The alternative is complicated.
