We've put new bindings on our ski club rentals we have for small and middle school kids and it has worked out but it was all about modest cost and basic use. A picky shop might not approve but it worked as far as keeping it affordable and functional for family and more casual skiers.

Turnamic get mounted on plate, that is already installed on ski. It shouldn't be problem to install that plate, but there will be more problem getting that plate. So I would say better option would be Rottefela, which is also mounted on plate but they actually sell plate separately. I don't think there's any current bindings that are still mounted directly on skis with screws. But NNN or NNN2 are compatible with first Rottefela NNN bindings from 30 years ago, so any old NNN(2) binding you will find, will be fine with current shoes.
