So I just put the Salomon 957 Equipe bindings on these K2 Extreme 8.3 skis in a 190cm length. These were made from 1990 thru 1992 I believe. Great top sheets AND bases. And they ski very well too (I now have two pair of these).

Phil does bring up a very good point here. The ski/binding combination. Some go together like pretzels and beer, others, well not so much.
theski/Spademan, K2 Comps/MRR, LOOK Nevada/Grind Prix, especially the red comp variant/VR17, HEAD, hart from the mid 60's thru mid 70's. Salomon Equipe/ any top end ski from the 90's. LOOK 77( a personal favorite) any top end ski from the 80's.(and beyond!)
What other combos do you find iconic?

I have gone back and forth on the binding issue. On one hand originality is cool, but not necessarily safe. On the other you have greater safety, but not necessarily the coolest look. I have followed both schools of thought, but now am remounting most retro skis with bindings that have a greater range of adjustment and match up somewhat cosmetically. Increases share-ability.
