What makes you think we didn't? I broke one, anyway. On the up side, not so many knee injuries.I wonder how ANYONE managed to fall without breaking their legs,
Gosh - looking at the pre-1970s pictures of the skis and bindings, I wonder how ANYONE managed to fall without breaking their legs, and given that learning to ski is synonymous with falling pretty much, I'm amazed that there are people on this forum who obviously did learn back then and were not crippled for life such that they are skiing on safer skis and bindings now ...
What? You skied without having to confront a load of teenagers/young people just over a crest all sat down with their backs to you?But at least there weren't any snowboarders to run into you back then.
I learned to ski on hand me down equipment similar to @Tony S (no wonder he’s so good ) until I could afford my own in my teens. I had a few sprained ankles & a few broken skis but no broken bones and was probably having as much fun then as I am now !Gosh - looking at the pre-1970s pictures of the skis and bindings, I wonder how ANYONE managed to fall without breaking their legs, and given that learning to ski is synonymous with falling pretty much, I'm amazed that there are people on this forum who obviously did learn back then and were not crippled for life such that they are skiing on safer skis and bindings now ...
It was in the 70's that bindings made great improvement. You have to go farther back to say that about falls and breaks.Gosh - looking at the pre-1970s pictures of the skis and bindings, I wonder how ANYONE managed to fall without breaking their legs, and given that learning to ski is synonymous with falling pretty much, I'm amazed that there are people on this forum who obviously did learn back then and were not crippled for life such that they are skiing on safer skis and bindings now ...
