Very interesting discussion of designing terrain for beginner skill progression. I don’t get to design terrain, but this all makes sense - I’ve used a gentle bank, led beginner skiers a little bit up it, then they swoop back down and the turn automatically happens. What a treat to create these conditions on purpose.

That would be a really cool piece of terrain to teach on. Our hill is not quite so well developed for beginners (very few are).

That’s awesome. I doubt any other place has put that much work into the beginner area. Other than building condos on it.

I want a bowl where they just glide down, then side step up the other side, then go back, repeat.

Yeap. If I were king every ski area would pay this kind of attention to their beginner / low level intermediate experience. Is is one way that ski hills can grow the sport.
