Happy Holidays, what have you got for our entertainment?

In the winter of 69-70 a group of us from Bridger Bowl went down to Jackson Hole for some contrived reason. While sitting at a bar, as ski instructors are wont to do, we all learned something. The bar tender was making up the ugliest drinks any of us had ever seen which of course we all had to try. The mixologist called it a "Brown Bilge" and claimed it to be the current favorite of the region. Truth of fiction I will never know but have carried this concoction all across the West and Alaska to the joy and demise of many. It is a very festive drink in spite of its looks and can make one open it many interesting (even if they are questionable) activities. Undoubtedly this drink goes by other names but the Brown Bilge is what I know it to be.
Here is just one example:
Winter of 75-76 taught at Copper to take a winter off from Alaska. Many Alyeska friend sofa surfed through my condo. Had a couple there and my soon to be wife one rather cold night and they wanted to 'go play', so we packed up and headed up the hill to Keystone, the condo was in Dillon. At the first location suggested we have a round of Bilges, they had no clue what I was talking about but everybody was game; they were enjoyed by all and became the drink of the evening all over that village. I know we had a lot of fun, we must have; the only clear memory of the evening is being taken to our car by the village police and escorted to the edge of town with the very clear instructions NOT TO COME BACK till sober. There are other tales of this magic pottant that creates wide awake drunks but this one will always stand out.

Brown Bilge
1 shot kalua
1 shot cream de cocoa
1 shot cream or 1/2 in 1/2
fill with coffee (no stinkin' decaf here)
top with whip cream and stir it up.

It closely resembles its name, if you want to be a bit more elegant don't stir.

I went to Mexico ages ago and the tour group I was in was making this drink they called the Paralyzer..first thing noted, they were making it in a large blue rain barrel. Second thing, it contained vodka (they substituted tequila), Kahlua, Coke and cream. I thought it was a joke..like, which of these idiots are going to drink this crap. Then I realized it was actually a real drink... There were some sore bodies the next day..I was not one of the burning wrecks... :roflmao::rocks:

That seems almost as potent as something you'd give to a cholicy baby. In fact I think gripe water is stronger!

Depends on how many you drink. Sounds like a sleeper drink that sneaks up on you because the olfactory and taste senses doesn't pick up of the alcohol level, so you pound them down one after another. Both Creme de Coco and Kalua are 40-50 proof. Jägermeister is only 70 proof; plenty of folks get unwittingly smashed on that.

I do know they taste very good. Nice change from Bailys in coffee on a Sunday morning.
