Oh, yes. He was a great, right up there with Miles Davis, John Coltrane, etc. A HUGE jazz icon. Return to Forever was only a small piece of what he accomplished.
Heard this as I was driving around yesterday. They then played Spain on the radio. Got to where I was going and sat in the car listening till it was done. Sad day for all music fans.

Remember that one. In elementary school a teacher asked us to compose a poem based on our expectations for the upcoming fight. One of my friends was suspended for his. The verse instantly became the school yard chant.

New York Yankee Mickey Mantel retired. He was one of my boyhood heroes, and Roger Maris made up the M&M boys that made me a Yankee fan for life.
