the movie On the Beach is debuted.
And for the first time was at the same time in both the Western and Eastern Bloc.

Could be the first time a little common sense started to prevail.

"The Flying Tigers' first combat came on Dec. 20, 1941 — 13 days after Pearl Harbor and 12 days after the U.S. declared war on Japan. Japanese bombers attacked the AVG base at Kunming."

"The AVG "shot down nine of 10 Japanese bombers. So they were the first Americans actually to have a victory in World War II," Calloway says. Their only loss was one AVG plane that the pilot crash-landed after running out of gas; he was uninjured, according to the DOD's history."

I seem to remember that they made a movie about the Flying Tigers but I thought it was before Pearl Harbor. Thanks for sharing.

The movie "It's a Wonderful Life" premiered. Christmas movie viewing hasn't been the same since.

Clessie Lyle Cummins was born on this date in 1888. If you've been around diesel engines you've heard his name.

"The Greatest Professional Football Game Ever Played"
The Baltimore Colts vs NY Giants and it is one of the first NFL Championship game to be on TV. The Giants lose in overtime to the Colts 23 to 17 and the Colts quarterback Johnny Unitas is credit for the win.

Sorry not this day but how about the 1963 Saskatchewan Roughriders . We used to have a two game total point playoff format in the CFL.

They lost first game 35-9 November 9 but won the second 39-12 November 11.
Last play of the game saw both teams punters kick the ball in and out of the Saskatchwan end zone.

A grounded ball in the end zone is a single point in the CFL

Sandy Koufax born in Brooklyn, NY. Even though I am a life long Yankee fan you have to recognize one of the best left handers to play the game.

Thanks. 1944
I am just listening to Chris Carter’s British invasion on SiriusXM Underground Garage. I am always amazed at how many popular & not so popular recordings & artists he was a session player for during the 60’s.
