Haha thanks everyone!

@chris_the_wrench and @anders_nor thanks for the binding suggestions. A lot of used stuff comes with one of the standard "all mtn" 13 din options... just making sure they would be fine for now.

And if I go new, is there any good choice I wont regret below the Pivot 15's?
Nope, different toepieces the model and Pivot 15 is all metal!

Not sure I get the question, but the pivot 15 and pivot 18 are full metal toe pieces. Pivot 14 went to some plastic giblets a few years back and Im pretty sure they never returned to all metal.

edit: @Atomicman and me were typing same statement and same time...

I phrased it poorly, my apologies.

If I find a used ski or a package deal with a Warden 13, Jester 16, Salomon STH2 WTR 16, Pivot 14, etc... will I regret it?

You will probabaly be fine, no idea what DINS' you usually run though. It's more the weight of an all metal binding on the M102 just feels right. like Cup2's on your GT3

Guys - I couldn't resist, went with the gold Pivot 15's. Should look pretty cool on the 2020 M102 top sheets.

There were no good sales on bindings - I could have saved 100 going to a 2020 Jester 16 or 80 with a Salomon STH2 WTR 16, but thought I might regret it.

Plus the skis were a great price and the shop is a reputable shop on the front range of CO, so they will mount and everything for free and I can trust them (unlike the local shop). All in it only cost me about 150 extra bucks going new skis with new Pivot 15's over used skis with Warden 13's after taxes on ebay, potential re-mounting costs, etc.

2020 or 2021? pics? gold will look good on either.

haha I currently rock trofeo R's but think I will go cup2 again for 2022, hard life choices.

usually you can get a deal on mantras, because when people pick them up in showroom they fear them.

2021's: https://www.look-bindings.com/product/all-mountain-bindings-pivot-15-gw-b115-gold

Once I get the skis I'll post pics. I bought them from a shop in a different state.

Cup 2 is a better tire IMO. Although neither is a great application for my current F80, so I dont run that class of tire anymore.

Good news is they are building up my skis at the shop - bad news is they didn't actually have the Pivot 15's in stock.

Had to go with Jester 16's - but it did save me 120 bucks. I'll rock Pivots on the next pair.

Got the ski's on Tuesday and thought I would be bumping this with some nice pics of them out on snow... however....

First run down on the new Mantra's - just taking one of the Blue's down, it was nothing special. Definitely a wide GS ski, they are nice and stiff, especially in the 191 length. TBH a little stiffer than I thought they would be, given they are an "all mtn" ski. Not disappointed though, they definitely will run.

Started to feel good and I leaned into the skis and was picking up the pace - and caught an edge on some ice I didn't think would be there (brand new skis without a detune to the front edges as well... I should have taken it easier). Went down and heard a pop, twice. Knee is swollen to all hell and is giving out when I try to put weight on it right now. Pretty bummed. No bruising though, so I am hoping its a bad sprain or meniscus, not ACL/MCL.

I'm going to see my PT in a few hrs, get his opinion and see if I need imaging, etc.

:( :( :( nooooo

The factory tune on them is usually very mellow & non hooky

For stiffness its one of very few 100mm's you can DRIVE HARD, really a no speedlimit no holes barred ski, but a friendly one at that.

The place I bought it from put their tune on it before they shipped them to me, haha.

I have never tuned my own skis. Maybe I should start. :-/

Little update... My PT thinks its meniscus tear, he's guessing I'll need surgery, but I'm going to the specialist and getting his opinion and probably and MRI. He said MCL, LCL and ACL seem fine, so it's looking like I dodged that bullet.

Thanks for the reply - just read the thread titled 'Long and heavy charger skis' - I saw how much you enjoy the Mantra 102's. Lots of good info in there. A little surprised the Sender Ti's weren't mentioned at all. Didn't see much on the Bonafide 97's either.

Would you recommend 191's over the 184's for my size and goals in the M102's?

I am 6'-2" 195 lb and the 184cm is plenty of ski. Its a wide ski that likes to be on edge, carve and charge. Dont expect any float on powder. Its more of a firm snow ski for out west, think chalky snow on open slopes. On a powder day it rules when everything is skied out and you can just carve through anything.

Get the MRI.
Thats the plan, unless I improve enough the Dr thinks I am ok with therapy... I have been working with this PT for years, and they and the Dr are both aligned with the local NFL team, and work with professional athletes (as well as Olympic team, college teams, MLB teams, etc) - I do trust them to do what is best.

Guys, thinking out loud here. If I wasn't scared of going a little less under foot, would the M5/M6 be a very similar ski to the Mantra 102s? Reading / watching reviews they say they are, but curious as to real world thoughts on this.

Just trying to weigh my options.

I loved the M5 but havent tried the M6. The M5 seemed like an easier going M102. Still on the charger side of things but more versatile day in day out.
