Have found Völkl Secrets 92, 2021/22 model but new, for cheap. Thinking of replacing a pair of Kendos (90 waist) y/m 2016/17 (the black and white top sheet), which I understand are a little burlier than the newer Völkls, but that does not need to be a bad thing. There are also the fatter (105?) available, but not the 96 width. Anyone who can give me the lo-down on these Secrets and their relative strengths and weaknesses? Looking at 163 cm length. Skis are intended for 20 y/o ex racer as a allday, all condition ski, except for the rare deep powder days, every second year or so.

The Völkl Secret 96 came out for the 2021-22 season, and was very popular, which is why you won't likely find it in reserve.
That year is when they introduced the Tailored Titinal Construction in the 96, which didn't go into the Kenja until 2022-23 and now the Secret 102 for 2023-24.

As for a good ski for an x-racer, these skis are all more nimble than the previous version. Therefore the 92 with old construction may be the best option at this time.

The Secret 92 is a slimmer version of the M5. Several women skiers in our group have that have the Secret 92. It also shared the M5 issue with hard snow and ice. The new M6/Secret 96 fixed that issue. The new skis have larger performance envelope than the older Mantra. Not necessary a bad thing.

The 2016/17 Kendo is a 3rd gen model. Tip and tail rocker. Nice ski. The gen 4 (2020-2022), not so much. The new 2023 (gen 5) Kendo/Kenja are much improved over the gen 4 models.
