Ok so I have decided between these two for my 2022 Trip. Long Story Short. Taking my family out west for the first time (Mother 73, Brother and Sister and myself were all around 40) Which trip would you take. I am just looking what you think would be the best trip for them for things to do besides hitting the slopes. My mother wont be skiing at all and I'm sure my brother and sister will only hit the slopes 3 or 4 days on the week trip. I have been to Whistler maybe 5 years ago but never been to Aspen. I didn't get to see much of the Village area of whistler or other things besides the slopes and zip lining and clubs every night. I'm sure my sister and my mother will be going out doing the standard stuff mother/daughter do.

Also the Option of Tahoe is out there but I don't remember there being much to do at Heavenly besides Casinos and Clubs

Love you guys and thank you always so much for your opinions and advice

the second trip will be more fun for the nonskiers mainly due to those specific dates specified; so its not a fair 1:1 choice.

The April trip is basically spring after the time change, which means more daylight, milder weather, and likely there will also be spring activities like live music concerts.

I want to say Aspen, but I haven't been there yet. After this season I will have a more informed opinion.

There is a lot to do at Whistler, regardless of the weather.

Wouldn't the conditions be more optimal at both places if you switched resorts for your dates? Is there a reason I missed that you couldn't do that? In other words, your current dates are a bit late for the best of Aspen and a bit early for the best of Whistler??

IMHO Springtime is the best time, especially with non skiers in tow.

Having been to both, I think the Aspen downtown and food are higher quality and certainly fancier than what Whistler has. If fancy is not desirable, then Whistler is a better choice. Whistler is more casual than Aspen.

One could always go to Sunlight for a day and hot springs. I suppose that’s the slumming part of the itinerary. That’s on the Aspen trip.

no Aspen is the better choice - Whistler will likely be too crowded.

I really love Aspen. There is plenty to do in town and the amenities are fantastic. It never feels too crowded, the four mountains give a great variety, and the Aspen airport is quick and convenient. The town is pleasant to walk around and the transportation system is well designed for a nice car-free trip.

Aspen gives you a second choice, you get on a shuttle to Snowmass. It is a WIN - WIN.

Its with my ski club that I belong to here in Tampa Bay Florida. So can't change the dates.

No reason to switch the dates -- that will be near maximum snow depth. Often we have our biggest dumps of the season in late March/early April. If not, the spring skiing is generally super excellent. One advantage is that Snowmass (a free bus ride from Aspen) is predominantly north facing, which leads to snow preservation if there hasn't been much snow. Snowmass, Highlands, and Aspen Mountain have a lot of elevation, Buttermilk has an east exposure and is lower in altitude.

Aspen is a great town. The restaurants are world class. The shopping is very premium, but there's a lot for a non-skier to do. The spas are exceptional. Before I bought a place in Snowmass, I'd often stay at the St. Regis for "free" due to the amount of travel my prior career involved. I say "free" because my non-skiing wife would run up a substantial spa bill at the incredible spa in the St. Regis...

Travel to Aspen is a lot easier than to Whistler as well unless you decide to drive from Denver or have a hiccup due to weather. The drive from Vancouver to Whistler along the Howe Sound, though, is incredible...
