I've heard many reasons why skiers hit up ski movies every fall.

Last night, we attended the Warren Miller Entertainment movie, Line of Descent.
The movie was definitely the focal point of the evening, but one thing I notice every time I go to one of these ski stoke movies is that there are a lot of people milling around the back of the room, checking out the new gear, talking to ski resort folks, checking out the swag, and talking to everyone else who's getting stoked for the new season.

I know there could be several variables, so this poll allows for up to 3 choices.

I'm interested to hear what you all have to say.

I'm giving it a miss this year. It's today and I'm just not interested this time. Since my daughter has been out of racing for over a decade and this is a team fundraiser, most of the people I knew are long gone. And I've really always preferred the "real Warren" movies.

Where's the "I don't" option? I don't much like to watch other people ski except to go to school on them. Ski movies bore me. I must be strange.
Then so am I ...

(My reasons aren't quite the same, but I don't even watch them at home much. Then again, I don't watch many movies of any sort unless I'm on an airplane.)

I added an "I don't option"
I would add an option for supporting the local ski club who puts it on, but I've hit my limit for options.

We are going this year as I understand there is a feature on NASTAR racing. My son and I as well as several friends all raced in last season's Championships and we will be watching the movie with personal interest. Unfortunately the movie won't be nearby for another month.

I don't see "Free lift tickets" as one of the choices. That is usually my reason for going.

Last year on the way to Whistler Gathering, I had two free powder days at Bachelor from attending TGR and Warren Miller movies, and even passed an extra one from TGR on to my host in Bend that a friend of his was able to use. This year TGR offered buy one day get the next day free at Bachelor which is not as good, but still worth going to movie if you think you will be skiing there two days. Plus movie in SF came too soon for me to make it.

A friend asked me today if I'm going to Warren Miller this year and I told him I'm not very likely. They are offering early/late season at Steamboat, a buy one get one free at Squaw and $45 Solitude ticket, none of which I really need on top of my passes.

Edited to not sound so grumpy:
I feel like there are too many ski movies out every year. Content overload. I miss PoorBoyz.
@Tricia how was the WME movie?

I've only missed 1 Warren Miller Movie since '77. It's a tradition, fun with friends, pre-season stoke and fun to see the new stuff & resort info (if they show up). It's definately not the same without Warren at the helm but it's still fun to go. All the other ski movies (since Greg Stump retired) just seem like the same stuff over and over and not worth going to see.

Huge party fun party years back at The Bushnell in Connecticut required two showings. Stoke level watching the movie at Killington is low. Funny how ski country folk yawn at watching ski films.
