Wood skis, new bindings

Found this old girl in a basement in Portland, Oregon. Pine tar on the base & no edges. Skied it at Timberline a few hundred feet. Then retired it.

The first skis I used at a resort were wooden Northlands with screwed on edges... They were originally 200+ cms and I cut them down to roughly (very roughly) 140 cms. The much older bindings were removed and my 11 year old self hand screwed Salomon 202s in to the wood all kinds of crooked. Liftee sent me back to the shop because I didn't have safety straps. Other than that no issues other than the instructor on his Rossi ROCs rolling his eyes when he saw what I had..

Looked a lot like these.. red with white trim..

I used skis like this when I started lace up boots. Biggest thing was you could never get the bindings tight enough to really hold you, and if you did you came out of the boot.

BTW I still have my mom’s old Leather ski boots in great condition. I’m post a picture of them.
