The tools for working on skis do have their roots in wood working. After all the early skis were wood and made by hand. A cabinet scraper is a ski scraper. A ski file could be used on wood. Waxing wood furniture to enhance the finish is a probably why people started waxing skis. So I agree with @Dwight and the name of the thread, the tools are similar for wood working and tuning.
