Maybe so but without them bubonic plague and haunta virus might spread unchecked. There's a theory that the witch-hunt era extermination of cats, black and other colors, facilitated the spread of rodent hosted health threats... particularly the black plague..
Yup! I can believe it!

This is kind of morbid but also funny. This guy and his friends obviously have/had a sense of humor, and it's rare that an obituary gives you a chuckle.
I would also like to say, respectfully "Thank you Captain David J. Eizenhoefer, for your service"
Bold emphasis is mine.

Captain David J. “Ike” Eizenhoefer USN died on July 24, 2022 at the age of 87. He was born in St. Cloud, MN on August 1st, 1934 to the late Joseph and Blanche Eizenhoefer. He had stated to his friends at Baldini’s Casino that he was going to live to 120 years of age. Upon hearing this, his good friend Gerry Mixie ran to the sports book and bet the under! You can now go and collect, Gerry! He was educated in Catholic school from first grade through college and, of course, was well “liberalized” upon graduation from St. Johns University, MN with a B.A. in Business in June 1956. Two weeks later he joined the Navy and a week after that was an ultra-concervative, politically leaning slightly to the right of Attila the Hun. He had learned in that short week how to be distinguished and responsible for one's self, not rely on someone else to care for you. He spent 31 years+ in the Navy, retiring as a Captain in June 1987. He was preceded in death by his vastly under-appreciated wife of 52 years, Elvira (Spatz) and his (trained killer) pomeranian, Wally. He is survived by his two sisters Diane Rupp and Mary Jo Hirdler, his son Erik, his daughter Kristen Turner, his grandchildren Alexis, Skye, and twins Summer and Chase also great-grandchildren Kaia, Jax, and Talon. Ike will be missed especially by the Coors Brewing Company, and Baldini’s, Gold Dust West, and Gold Ranch Casinos. A private service will be held at the Mountain View Mortuary and burial at the Fernley Veterans Cemetery where he will rejoin his wife.

Here’s one that could have maybe used a NSFW spoiler, but I couldn’t figure out the spoiler feature.

I encourage all to actually read the article. It is surprisingly beautiful and inspiring. Very much makes me think of my wife's grandmother who passed a few years ago. A badass with a wild sense of humor, love of beer, skill for forging documents and ability to raise 5 successful daughters by herself. Ella estaba verga.

My hat is off to any woman that can raise SUCCESSFUL children on her own. My mom was a widow, my dad was killed in a car accident when I was five and my sister was seven. That was back in the early 1950's when not many job opportunities were available to woman. She raised two successful children, both college graduates that have had successful marriages and successful grand children. So hats off to your wife's grandmother.

She was married and had her first child at 16. Husband ran off with his mistress after the 5th one (ironically he ended up in the same part of Veracruz as the woman in the article). After he ran out, she forged documents (fake diplomas) to work as a law librarian in a Mexico City law firm. Later in life she forged a series of birth certificates to keep working past Mexico's mandatory retirement age at the same firm. Apparently most of the lawyers knew but preferred to keep her around. Of her 5 daughters, one is one of the top art preservation and restoration experts in Canada, one is an English teacher, one is a restaurateur with multiple restaurants and two married well. All with successful marriages and children.

She drank beer in the most bizarre manner: she would pour a little into a glass and swirl it into foam and drink the foam. Repeat. She loved beer, but the slow methodical method kept her from drinking too much. Except at my/my wife's rehearsal dinner where she indulged in margaritas made by a gringo who shouldn't have been put in charge of making margaritas (we spent a LOT on tequila that night). She blamed "las bombas atomicas" for her condition the next morning. I feel you tita. They were bombas atomicas.
