Between the paired front screws and the rear rail screw, do you use double sided adhesive tape between the binding and the ski?

Already set up a test rig, one with and one without VHB; already forgotten which is which.

I always use some form of heavy duty 3M double-sided tape, because, why not?

Both of my XC skis have NNN BC bindings. Both were installed by the ski shop with adhesive strips.

As I recall..from years ago..there was adhesive on XC bindings for the heel strip, as well as screw. So I'd say yes, probably to maintain alignment..

Still adhering, still really functional. Not a shim, only ~20 mils thick.

The skis were delaminated and peeling but the VHB was fine.

For the record, I wound up going with this one. It's rated for bonding to topsheets AND metals (read: 75mm, also: powder coated bike frames).

I thought the 1.1 mm spec thickness would be too much but it compresses down just fine and fills in snakeskin-type topsheets.
