Got an answer to my inquiry. They basically said tough luck about price almost doubling.

I suppose this is true about a lot of places but a nice thing about late season skiing is that road conditions aren't as bad and you can combine your ski trip with something else that's interesting. For example, if you go to Mammoth you could fly into LA or San Francisco (or even Reno) and then see stuff in those cities, or other stuff like Death Valley National Park in the desert, Redwoods near the Bay Area, the CA coast, etc. And Mammoth is really great in April. Plenty of snow falling now and forecast yet in March to set up a good spring season.

But all those other places are good too.

I haven't seen pricing for Timberline's spring pass yet, but the Summit Pass now available is $299 and upgrades to a spring pass in a couple weeks... probably the spring pass will be less, but that's not for sure. Portland/Government Camp is gorgeous in the spring, and there will be times when Timberline is skiing fantastic. And also times when it's not... those south-facing runs collect a lot of sunlight. But if you're willing to enjoy a range of activities depending on what the weather does, it can make a fantastic late-spring destination.
