I like using LOOK Pivot and SPX bindings, and I am increasingly thinking of using Tyrolia Protector bindings for my family. No one has torn an ACL yet, but I like the idea of extra prevention. It's a straightforward decision for recreational frontside carving skis. But what about freeride/park/mogul or recreational racing skis? Would you avoid Protector bindings because of potential early release? I'm going to get my 11 year old boy some Volkl Mantra Jr skis for adventures between the trees/crud, and update his GS racing skis (recreational, NASTAR etc.) for next year and trying to decide if I should put LOOK SPX 12 or Tyrolia Protector SLR 11 on them. The main question is, would we experience premature release with Protector when he's doing small jumps, bumping around between trees etc. and in recreational races?
