38 days, 572 lifts, 729,946 vertical feet. Sadly that's a wrap for my season. Off to Scottsdale with the non-skiing wife for the duration of the winter.

With son #1, daughter and son-in-law before dropping into Horseshoe Bowl

We were advised to ski the Summit Chair at Mt Bachelor if it was running, so we did. @Lex P

17, hopefully 20 and then it's a roadtrip to non skiing land for 2 weeks. Maybe something will be open when we return...

30 Days and over 350+ Runs this year...I reached my GOAL OF 30! It has been the greatest year for my wife and I at Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain, NC. An ACTUAL SKI IN/ SKI OUT CONDO on Oma's Meadow at Sugar Mountain has been more than worth the investment for our family. I personally want to thank @tomgellie for transforming my skiing via on-line ski lessons and his incredible website www.bigpictureskiing.com. Tom Gellie is truly an "Elite Ski Coach" and tremendous individual.

Thanks also to EVERYONE here at Skitalk...you all are a great "ski community"...look forward every morning and evening to see what everyone is up to from the latest gear, debates on instruction, and even the retro stuff which is one of my favs.

Day 15 and made it count. If it weren’t for crowds in the morning and at supper time, I would have easily got 50k vert. Spring snow day and the 2021 Candide 2.0 were amazing and even brought out the 118mm Wildcats which were effortless through afternoon crud near 50mph.

43 at Bachelor with @Philpug, @Tricia, and @AKMINK. Just awesome weather though I lost my excuse for not skiing certain areas with skinny skis as Ann killed it on Blossom Numero Uno Lady at 67 underfoot. The AM77 Augments that @Tricia and I were on where super too.

Day 46.... 2021

The bad

I crashed! this was my first on groomer proper crash/fall in ... yeah 5-10? years.
Conditions has been slush & summer for 2 weeks, but dropped to -6, decided to do rossi LT's 0.5/3 tune and fairly agressive, but figured it would have been groomed good and fairly hard. I was partially right. it was marbles and variable prep, I caught a tail edge while stopping for a crowd of friends (18 people) which suddenly decided to stop all at once, and use the absolute entire slope, I came in hot, saw it quite early, went for a fairly slow/controlled hockystop, but also enterd the shade where I couldnt see there were refrozen fairly large bumps + prep machine had a height difference... caught a rear edge, rotated and slammed head. My new fancy "the most expensive" I could find helmet came to play, my back protector came to play. I did black out a bit, but could stand up, with nothing more than a sore neck/shoulder 0! damage to kneees!!! (YES!!!!) . I do crash on big air and rails a few times per season though, and this was definetly "up there" with crashing with too much air. I skied down & changed the rossi LT's for deacon 84s, just needed something less catchy and more forgiving.

The Good!
Now to the good, this was probably the best day I had all year for conditions, I cut the forrest shade runs, and did the main black run, conditions were less marbles, and the sun was softening what was left of bad transitions on prep up, and marbles, conditions were hard enough to be fast, and I could really really push the deacon's talking energetic high speed jumps were you get air when you change over, such a great day, very few people, and the people there were almost all very good skiers! so I could ski the runs without bleeding speed and crowds suddenly stoppoing. My friend who has been practicing carving also unlocked something today, the conditions boosted his confidence, and he did 50mph high angle high energy carves! linking them without bleeding speed! We really nailed the waxing for conditions as well, some probably had "too slow" skis but we were zooming, I managed to just go over 60 when letting up on the carves to let it run a bit.

Today was a good day! :)

Day 61 today. Mid-week crowds are REALLY wearing me down. We're supposed to be open for another 5'ish weeks, and I plan to ski almost all of those. I'll continue my ski routine, but I will quit as soon as the lines annoy me and go for an afternoon ride if the crowds persist(shouldn't these people be playing golf or something??).

Gore: fun day skied with friends "Coach" led the way; down the edge of Lies- superb piles of snow even talked me into Rumor.. not for the faint at heart. the top is a sheet of ice w/some dust. we even stopped and practiced our 'Mt Goat stance" On the ice slab, that was toughest trail this season- Stayed on top 9-1pm then some cruisers on the bottom. Blue sky and cold. Great day--@Liberty76w's
