We did a big climb at the top of Logan Canyon yesterday (right next to Beaver Mountain ski area.) Rode to the spot where the coldest temperatures recorded in the lower 48 occur every winter—Peter Sinks. It’s a pretty non- remarkable spot, very beautiful scenery on the way up with the smell of pine constant. Pine and aspen provided shade the entire way. We climbed around 2000 feet in 4 miles. There were enough rocky spots to keep it interesting. It was so steep that I didn’t love the descent.
The Sinks are just a low flat spot covered in rocks and some sage brush:
The views along the ride were great:
The bikes were caked in dust. It’s so dry here. Normally June is hero tacky dirt season. Not this year:
The ride was memorable because the scenery and smells and constant tree coverage were all amazing, but I’m not sure I’d do it again. If I do, I’d pack lunch to eat at the top.
