Mod Note: The last couple of seasons we haven't had a dedicated Taos thread, and there's been a lot of Taos content spread over the Gathering threads, the general four corners thread, and various trip reports. So for 2023-24 we're going to have a Taos thread... and a recent question about lift 4 that came up in the Gathering thread moved here to kick things off.

I noticed they completely took down lift #4, what's up with that?

Everyone assumes all animals are male. They are always "he."
It seems that females are not worth thinking about.

There is a long list of reasons for why we should just abolish pronouns. They're a pain in the butt.

Then we'll all sound like lawyers.
Well, lawyers try to eliminate ambiguity. Which I like. Except when they do the opposite. Which I don't. Where were we again?

Is "butt" masculine or feminine? (I can never remember those rules)
"Butt" (at least as used by me) is an English word and thus by definition it doesn't have a gender. How's that for being lawerly?

Sidebar: In Googling this question I learned that "butte" - a landform common in the West - and "butt" appear to be related, etymologically speaking. (Hillock, bump, mound, etc.) According to "Stars Insider," (LOL) "The United States is home to some of the best-looking buttes in the world."
