Skied Alta with my 15 y.o. son last March for the first time. Apparently picked a good year for a first visit. Skied knee deep powder, got some rope drop first tracks, feel like I finally understand what inbounds "freeskiing" really feels like...even got thrown a little Alta attitude by a couple Alta employees while riding the Supreme lift when I went to put the safety bar down. Amazing and eye opening trip. Headed back again this March and staying at GMD this time vs Cottonwood Heights. Can't wait!

Please...don't be more snow than last year
As a reminder, here are the totals from last year (from the Salt Lake Tribune)... for reference, per ZRankings calculation, Alta's average season snowfall is 517", or ~57% of what they got last season.

Is that reverse psychology?

Odds are there will be less snow but I’d love to see another big winter. Lots of snow means lots of terrain & helps spread people out cuz odds are there will be just as many or more people.
Kind of nice not sharpening my edges every night.

I/we can only hope this 23-24 thread stays happy for the UT locals…....it’s depressing to all of us “tourists” when we go to this thread and read about how horrible everything is.

…One man’s garbage is another’s treasure !

I think I actually saw some leaves changing yesterday, yet in other areas it is still springlike as if summer never happened!

I hope it’s 2030…

Current expected competition per that page are SLC, Stockholm-Are, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, and just "Switzerland" (no more specific location yet).

Historically when does lift service start for canyon areas?
