I have some questions about the new skis. of course the website and shops are no help.

Anyone know:

The new plate is called R23. How is it different from the R22?

The 165s tail now says R=12 on some and R=13 on others like previous models. Wtf?

Any thing else change?

Yep. I already asked this. The new ones are 12m. Mine are exactly the same.

My 165cm 2019-2020 are 116-67-103 13m
My 165cm 2020-2021 are 118-67-104 13m

All the new 2022-23 165cm I've seen in shops here are labeled 121/67/104 13m A13 and have the R22 plate; the 157's here are 12m.

Have not seen a 165cm 12m A12 with R23 plate here yet....

I guess with the same sidecut dimensions, the missing meter of radius becomes an increase of one plate unit - thus ski dimensions are conserved

The sidecut dimensions are different from last year’s model.
It was 118-67-104 and now is 121-67-104

However the current 165cm/13m A13 model is also labeled 121/67/104....

Where? I noticed that immediately after receiving mine from Italy that the info on the website was misleading. It stated 121/67/104 A13 and when I received mine turned out they were A12 and the A13 pictured there were actually 118/67/104. Not that it makes huge difference but is very annoying.

BTW the Dynastar FIS SL with this sidecut is correctly stated as 12m

Mine are also made in France instead of Spain.
Anyone know the difference between the R22 and R23 plates?

Cue someone to advise us that we shouldn't obsess over trivia, and that expectations that manufacturers be accurate, precise, transparent, comprehensive, and consistent in their labeling and communications is unreasonable.

(I would be fine, btw, with manufacturers being inaccurate, imprecise, opaque, and schizophrenic, if they would also allow me to be the same when it comes to paying up.)

The r23 certainly looks a little different. Just wondered about the performance difference.

Tony been on em yet? How’s that 121 shovel hook up? Did you ski the 20/21 21/22 ski ( 118 13r)?

thoughts? What’s your setup on the plate?

nice to see the Rooster back where it belongs - inspiring courage!

Not even mounted them yet. It is raining here, not snowing dammit…:(
Very much looking forward to testing them, but when Mother Nature says not yet very little you can do about it.

And the “factory” version is just the 165? Or is there a regular 165cm FIS SL and Factory FIS 165 with different build?
