The news on what one outdoor retailer is doing deserves to be read.

Wow. Had no idea. Thanks for posting. I was a customer of B***c******.com, but now I'll have to rethink that.

That's ridiculous. Backcountry should not be a patent trademark name. It's just an English word.

You can throw IP on anything.

However, there are caveats. Having been involved with three IP cases, taking one to federal juried trial, I will stop there.

"The e-commerce retailer has targeted just about every business in the country using the word “backcountry,” but it has not hassled Backcountry Access, which is owned by international conglomerate Newell Brands, which oversees 150 brands and employs 40,000 workers across the world. "

That says everything. They are just going for the easy targets.

I've bought stuff from them. But never again as long as they continue down this road. I'm not interested in supporting mean-spirited and small-minded businesses.

Is anyone out there a backwoods skier? That word might be next.

Tricia and Phil are backyard skiers but they are likely safe from lawsuits.
