In 2021 we had to cancel the annual Taos Gathering. And I'm certain Taos missed us (how could they not?), so we had to go back this year!
This was my fourth ski week at Taos, and I had a great time... Pretty much the same as prior years, but with some new faces, some new runs, and always lots of fun. Now, a few pics...
Lessons
As with prior years, most of the Gatherers took a ski-week... 6 days of 2.5 hour morning lessons.
The Ski Off - getting sorted into groups by the instructors
Folks joining the highest level groups, @Tony S , @Pasha , @tromano
The Whistlestop Cafe, where you meet for lessons each morning
Left to right, @Dean , Rick our instructor, and me
My lesson group - Kathy (friend of @MaryG), Claire Ann, and @Dean, with a bunch of other SkiTalkers ready for lessons
Rick and Kathy on a snowy day
Getting some instruction
The lessons were great and I learned a lot, and skied some moguls much better than I have before... there is bit of focus on controlled mogul skiing at Taos, at all levels. Unless there's powder. Either way, great lessons.
Scenery
Lift 1 on morning 1 - there is a minute or two line in the morning, then nothing the rest of the day
The famous Slim Slidell... and a SkiTalk sticker shot
A view of the West Basin Ridge on a sunny morning
A view of lower Kachina near the top of lift 4... I liked the lens flare
About 6 weeks ago there was a massive wind storm... they estimate 5000 trees were lost in the resort, and many more outside of it... some of the glades were ruined, but they'll probably have some new ones once cleaned out.
Moon-set in the early morning
View down the valley from the front side
Kachina Peak
Clouds rolling in before some snow
Afternoon snow at lift 1
Frosted trees and moguls after new snow
More snow! On West Basin Ridge

Funky Clouds and Snow!
Lift 4 gets sun much of the day
Cloudy Valley view

Sun and Shadow from Lift 4
Lift 4 heading for the sun
More clouds incoming
The clouds brought more snow!
Blitz run... steeper than it looks and much larger moguls than it looks (IMO )...
Odds and Ends
The locker room - I booted up here every day
The Bavarian restaurant - my favorite lunch spot on a nice day
They've also added some additional outside seating in the sun
Lunch at the Bavarian
Lunch on the main patio... Mrs. Grump brought cake, and @Matchstix made cookies!
SkiTalkers! (and a few others)
Jess and Jen (friends of Whitney), Me, Whitney, and @MattSmith at lunch
Selfie!
An afternoon group... you can often just ski around at Taos and run into other SkiTalkers.. @ChunderBlunder , @Sandy_NYC , @Noodler , @Matchstix , @MattSmith , and @mdf
Another day, another group... @Pasha , @Noodler , @mdf , @Scruffy , @MattSmith , and a random dude who's friend yelled at him to get the hell out of our pic
@Dean , Teddy, and @Marker
