That guy is supremely lucky. First that the other guy skied right over his board and second that the rescuer had the presence of mind and the skill to do what need doing.

I was astounded that the buried person could still talk. I was not at all sure that he would not have already suffocated.

These videos make my palms sweat, increase my blood pressure and fill me with absolute terror. I can feel the stress from the rescuer and the helplessness of the victim. All I know is this rescuer is a bad ass. He moved with absolutely urgency and total focus even as his own heart rate was maxing out. What a job he did and that snow is so deep....great reminder of the dangers of tree wells and how to execute a swift and effective rescue.
