Besides the occasional eBay listing, is there another source for getting a set of Spademan boots and bindings? I would really like to try them out.

I have memories of Spademan bindings from the very start of my ski career, sadly none of the memories are fond...

Ebay is the best place to find them. I have kept an eye on Craigslist but they are few and far between. If you want to try them with your current boots, you will need a rental plate which you will see a few pictured on page 1. These are listed right now Ebay for a reasonable price for a step in with brakes.

Spademan toe brakes much coveted by me.The listing had Spademans with the toe brakes on a pair of skis but I really just wanted the bindings, well the guy took the bindings off and also offered up 3 more Spademans including the S.9s. Again, thanks to @Royal for facilitating.

How about a pair of Olin Mark III they would be about the same time frame.

See post #5 of this thread.

@Royal
Looks like you found a ski and binding from the time frame of the 1980's

Twist test.

Foward lean test.

I added some silicone to make the bindings more reliable and predictable. I am happy with their release characteristics for twist and forward lean. The problem was the proper setting of the single adjustment made twist where I wanted it, the forward lean released much to early for the corresponding twist setting. Nonetheless I skid them knowing that I could release unexpectedly.

The bindings behaved well and weren't put to the test of a field release. Their simplicity of design is quite remarkable.

@Doug Briggs
Did you try moving the AFD forward to lessen the pivot leverage to help equalize the forward lean to twist ratio?
