Wondering what everyone's favourite waxing iron is, especially for cold weather/hard wax (generally stuff with a recommended temperature 140-160 degrees celsius)
An iron with a thick base is important. Digital controls is nice. I have a Holmenkol iron like that that is pretty good. That said, I often prefer the feel of my cheap Swix iron if waxing indoors - it just feels better in my hand in terms of shape. The key with an iron like that, which lacks a thick base, is to give it a long time to be sure it's up to temperature.Wondering what everyone's favourite waxing iron is, especially for cold weather/hard wax (generally stuff with a recommended temperature 140-160 degrees celsius)
I have always wanted to get one of those. Never found it on sale, when, where, and how much?Toko T18. Catch it on sale. Good bang for the buck.

The advice I got, and followed, many years ago was to scour thrift stores for an old iron without steam holes. I've had this ski-waxing iron since about 1980, don't remember what it cost, I figure I've amortized it down to about a nickel per year.An iron with a thick base is important. No but you can get them for $10. I did the same, works well enough for me. YMMV."The advice I got, and followed, many years ago was to scour thrift stores for an old iron without steam holes."
Was this before it was possible to buy dedicated wax irons?
Fuller didn't bring one to lend you? When do you leave? Thanks, all. I'll just chalk up my bad luck with mine to a fluke, and grab one of these when we return from our annual SV trip.
Bummed that I forgot mine burned up near the end of last season's spring Tune and Wax Party, because I really wanted to hot wax before the SV trip, then supplement with spray stuff while we were there.
