This tree has seen some wind and snow. Above the Hurricane Ridge observation building, Olympic National Park.

Here’s my baby, a Sequoiadendron Giganteum or giant redwood we planted a few years back. It’s so cool to watch this thing grow, along with a couple more we planted last year.

And a Sequoia Sempervirens, or coastal redwood. This one had a tough time with the really cold spell we had last winter and a lot of its needles turned brown. It has bounced back and grown new needles as well as put on a lot of new growth, both in height and spreading its branches out. Someday these two trees will tower over all the surrounding trees. I hope I live long enough to see it start to happen.

I have this favorite tree at Mt Rose just off of Sunset.
I took this pic back in December 2021 (You can see @Andy Mink in the background)

Earlier this year I took another pic from the other side with @Philpug standing in front of it. Gives you an idea of the scale.

A few weeks ago I took another shot to show just how much snow has covered it.

Some trees from Saddleback, ME last weekend.

F0DF7661-D41B-495E-8C55-C023E32C62C4.jpeg

A tight but quite skiable manicured forest.

More open spot. Maybe too open for tree survival.

@Tony S in the forest. The canopy shade helps snow preservation, filters out light rain, and blocks wind.

@DebbieSue moving through the more open trees next to solid forest. Apparently removing too many will kill them all eventually.

Jen of @AlanR in the middle of it all.

Start of Tightline, a wide straight groomer. A lot of logging can be seen in vistas from Saddleback. @MarkP has dropped in.

@Fuller - I edited your post above to just include the photo, not the link to your album. (FYI, I did it the easy way on a PC... right click the image, hit copy, then just paste it into your post. Didn't have to use any of the "insert image" options at all, or worry about what the link is. Then I just deleted the link. On a phone that's harder and doesn't always work depending on phone and browser.)

From yesterday, in the Wheeler Peak Wilderness. Dozens of people were summiting from Williams Lake, but Bull of the Woods was actually safer, in terms of snow cover and conditions. I went up BoTW, and down WL. I should've taken the same route back, but then I wouldn't have this photo.
