@cantunamunch, nice frameset. Is that tire really as tight in those stays as that photo makes it appear?
I assume it's yours and you'll be building it? Period specific or modern?
Thanks.
Yes, that was part of the problem.
The tire shown is a 700x35 Schwalbe G-One on a 17mm rim. The dimpling helped the tire clear the chainstays BUT notice that the dropouts are horizontal.
No way is that inflated tire going forward against the seat tube enough for the axle to actually enter or exit the dropouts. So 700x35 is effectively out.
700x32 works in the back but doesn't clear the fork crown on a 17mm rim. Yes, I could make the rim wider.
I should be fine with 700x28 or 700x30 - either goes in without
too much fuss, and, as an added bonus, both clear the fork crown nicely.
I will be building it up as a rider so *not* full-period-Campagnolo.
I have enough 6400 and 7400 parts to assemble it all tomorrow, and the BB is already in. It would be kind of appropriate since those frames were
not meant to be used for full bling show off bikes.
But I am struggling to motivate myself to do that kind of look. Yes, I am tempted to restomod, depending on what I figure out for wheels and brake calipers. I do know I want the new Vittoria Corsas on there.
