I felt a little off, and have been off snow for over a week beause I was working the Ski Hall event.
Still, got into the chutes.
Beehive to be exact.
Thanks to @Andy Mink and @Philpug for waiting for my lame self.

Day 31 was a bit of a bonus day. We spent the morning packing up the aid rooms and moving the toboggans and other equipment into their offseason storage homes. I snagged a run with my dog at the end of it. Conditions were 2"-3" of nice new snow ontop of some very hard sun affected hardpack. It was a pretty okay run.

67 and closing in on the end of the season next Sunday, so I'll break 70, and a metric shit-ton of vertical.

Good, but weird, season. We have most emphatically NOT had the mega dumps that the rest of the west seems to have experienced, but we've had no warm weather, so our snow pack has held up really well.

My best 3 powder days were during a week at Sun Valley, so I fear I may have been transported into some bizarre parallel universe!

Crazy how the weather patterns move throughout the west.
A few years ago I felt like we coulnd't find snow anywhere.
This year we have experienced tons of snow just about everywhere we traveled except Summit County Colorado, and though the snow was good in JH the few days we went through there, it was not as deep as I thought it would be.
Next year... We're hoping to repeat a powder day on our anniversary.

*Oh and I heard that a metric shit-ton is = to two butt-loads

41 as of yesterday! Last year was the most in my life at 27

Me 2!
I mean, me too 41!
As of Saturday 04.01 which was another "Boyz only" day.
Went up for the last day of Jr seasonal program. Unfortunately, being the only one registered for the day, the program was closed down two sessions (days) early. In exchange Jr was offered two hours private lessons with...one of his seasonal programs' Instructors.
So after having handed him over to the instructor, I left to ski solo for a bit...
This time of the season I like to spend as much time as possible higher up, in the Glacier area and on the Paradiso run coming down from it to the main area at the Pass. This should be by now apparent by the number of posts where I mention the area...
1.jpg

Anyway, on the way up I happened to notice what seemed a nice "couloir" which usually isn't there (snow accumulation is usually higher) and was musing of skiing it, then above it a "mogul" field (relatively speaking, I know that to define a "mogul field " that one area might be an offence to mogul fields properly said but, please indulge me)
2.jpg

Keep in mind that is all out-of-bound terrain...or off-piste as properly named in Italy...
So, being alone and with the "wrong" (such a thing really doesn't exists) pair of skis,
I was hesitant entering it, as I had kept to the groomed terrain for the best part of the past sesons...
While contemplating what to do from above...
3.jpg

A guy in AT equipment beside me proceed to drop into the moguls...
Not half a turn later he was tumbling and rolling down it (he must have caught a snow snake right at the beginning, both bindings released on the spot) coming to rest in the terrain depression where you see the person skinning up in the pic above (person wass not there when guy arrived down) and he was lucky there was that that depression, or he would have continued in his slip sliding forever...
Anyway what choice did I have, if not to recover his fallen skis, ski down to him, check if he was ok and give him back his equipment?
4.jpg

After being sure he was uninjuried and able to continue skiing , ahem, down by himself, I started to traverse toward the pic left with all the intention to re-enter the groomed piste...but...I happened totally by chance to pass by the "couloir" entrance...
5.jpg

Terrain, er, snow was totally packed, no wind slabs or accumulation whatsoever...
So...
6.jpg

I skied into it...
And then, after a couple of turns in the open field after it, also the other "fake" couloir
8.jpg

Before finally re-entering the groomed run...
I continued down till the main pass, skiing the Paradiso run and repeat the whole thing a second time before heading back to retrieve Junior from his lesson (as it happened, on the way back upo he was there with his instructor, skiing the Paradiso run as well)
I'll leave for another time what the little "speed demon" made me do when skiing down the final schuss of the Paradiso, but since there are no pictures of it nor clips...then it did not happen

Day 18 was Sunday at Loveland marked the end of my season. Snow was ok, but wind-affected anywhere above the treeline.
Day 17 was Saturday at Breckenridge. Found some powder when they opened a gate on Peak 6. Tracked out very fast. Was a beautiful, bluebird day. Lots of fun w friends.
Day 16 was Friday at Vail. Powder and storm day. In the back bowls was great. Visibility wasn't the best due to overcast, some snow falling and lots of wind. Traffic back was a bear. Took 6+ hrs to drive 80 miles.
