yes, i think it says they will open if the government opens but they are refunding everyone to preserve customer service as they can't even get certain dates and feel it won't happen if covid cases don't go down.

Was hoping that was the case but hard to tell from the wording as it made it sound like “best case we open Feb 20” aka-it’s not financially worth it for them.

@Lady_Salina Your post prompted me to call them to confirm the situation, so I actually talked with someone at Moonstone and they will be automatically refunding programs/memberships BUT are still hoping as we all are that they can still open this season. Feb 20th opening date currently written in pencil.

So there’s at least a SLIGHT glimmer of hope still.:crossfingers:

I am starting to loose patience with ignorant decisions by the elected fools. Skiing is safe, going indoors and eating, drinking socializing is where the virus spreads.

Our own elected fools in B.C. decided with very short notice to end liquor sales at 8 PM on New Years Eve. Now researchers are determining that the 8pm closure did not limit liquor sales at all but caused shoppers to show up in an compressed time slot creating more difficulty with physical distancing making the liquor purchasing more risky than it should have been.:nono:

Quebec must have passed on to BC their faulty information that the virus only spreads at night.

I am seeing decisions being made here in Ontario based misguided information. Unless they politicians tackle the precarious workers living paycheck to paycheck in essential workplaces continuing to go to work for fear of lost income or job security, COVID19 will continue to spread. In addition I am concerned this level of closures continues to push people to get together in their own homes are opposed to safer options such as skiing, low density restaurants required to follow appropriate protocols, etc.

Has anyone from Ontario skied in Quebec yet? I'm wanting to go on a solo midweek trip later this winter. Is it worth the drive from Niagara? I'll probably go to the Eastern townships as I'm guessing they'll be less crowded than Tremblant.

How bad are the lines?

I was up at New Years to Tremblant. The lines were long because of the social distancing. Only 2/chair or gondola car. But midweek should be better. I can say more hopefully next Thursday to that at Tremblant. Not looking forward to Family Day with Blue not open.....it's a zoo normally with Presidents Day and Family Day, and add in no Ontario resorts open....subtract the Americans....it'll be first tracks and home by lunch.

Townships might be better. Just remember 8pm curfew till February 8th if they don't change their minds and extend. Rest is just like Ontario. No inside dining, no washrooms open at Timmies....

Pondering a Tremblant trip too but didn’t know how frowned upon Ontario license plates would be there if my car wasn’t hidden in a separate garage during the trip? I would bring food and then never leave the hotel/condo except to ski but still iffy about going.

I may hold off with hope of an out West trip later in the season as I much prefer the skiing there but Tremblant more guaranteed.

There are a lot of Ottawa people at Tremblant. So there are always Ontario plates. It's the dealer plate that would give you away. At Christmas I couldn't believe the dealer stickers from the GTA. But with Blue closed, they were all coming up. We're having a discussion on the CSIA WIS facebook page about travelling. Most of the ladies are saying no way. The Ottawa ladies don't want you there. But with nothing open, you're not stopping. So there shouldn't be any exposure there anyways.

The Act does state you can check a secondary property for 24 hours or 2 weeks of stay.

If you're thinking about Quebec before the curfew is lifted....everything except Pharmacies and Gas stations close at 7:30pm.
Bring a dog as walking a dog after curfew in Quebec is still legal.

Oh, yeah. I also have a friend that has a condo at Tremblant. Her daughter has a dog...Burmese Mountain dog. And a puppy too. I gave him the bone from the prime rib on New Years Eve....Now I have another, so I should take him for a walk too!!

Problem is no government is treating this as a disaster and following disaster management protocols. They treating it as COVID management and as a result are causing just as much harm (if not worse) than COVID alone. Realistically the current approach is strictly medical based COVID redponse with complete dis-regard of financial destruction (we can’t afford it), mental health (caused by financial), general health (COVID takes priority). Question really should be how are we going to pay for this, how many people have committed suicide, and how many have died because treatment was cancelled or delayed (won’t even include suffered).

Disaster management dictates get the specialists out of the lead, they only see one aspect as a result create as many or more problems then they solve (which is what we are seeing currently, FORD are you listening), get a generalist that coordinates all issues for the best resolve.

One simple thing to slow this down a limit spread, don’t wear a mask correctly, pay a steep fine, don’t social distance pay a steep fine, want to have parties go ahead, COVID treatment is now chargeable (all cost including new intensive care equipment just because you participated) Simple answer don’t like it, don’t do it and suck it up, otherwise pay $$$.

I keep wishing that they would warm people at work who don't wear their mask correctly and after 2 warnings you will no longer receive the 2 weeks quarantine pay if you need it and no coverage if you catch it and need medical. Annoys me so much I have to work with so many people that wear the mask on the chin.
