Yes, first time it's been out of the car. It was leaking from everywhere. Getting a new clutch and exhaust and rebuild of tranny too. Plus about a mile of oil and brake lines.Fun stuff but way above my pay grade. Is this the first time the engine has been opened up?
Funny you ask, that engine block holder actually came from the Porsche factory itself. My guy bought it from the estate of a friend who after working 40 years was allowed to keep it when he retired and brought it to Canada with him. When the guy started at Porsche he was building 356s, the bolt pattern is apparently the same on all the Porsche and VW boxer engines (I don't know if it will hold inline and V engines, but maybe it does). How ya gonna clean all those?
Did the guy make that engine block holder from a lathe tail stock?
And, yeah, it'll be clean, I'll get pictures then. All the stuff without oil-passages goes in the bead-blast chamber. Not sure what happens to the stuff with oil passages. How ya gonna clean all those?

I’m sure they’ll use ultrasound for something.*sniff* no one likes ultrasound except me and the cat
Why you giving your cat an ultrasonic bath?
I think that in 40 years the only cars left will be air-cooled Porsches and Toyota Hiluxes.Sweet. It’ll be good for another 40 years.
And 1995 Toyota Corollas....I think that in 40 years the only cars left will be air-cooled Porsches and Toyota Hiluxes.
