Only in the US. [The US has a really weird dating system of MMDDYY which has the intermediate time number first, the smaller time number second, and the biggest time number third. More logical is either YYMMDD, which has the advantage that the resultant number can be sorted, or DDMMYY which is commonly used in UK, the ex-British Empire, and parts of Europe for whom 12th February of this year had the same characteristics as quoted by @Uncle-A ]

To be fair, it’s month, day, and then year when saying dates in Japanese as well. I think Chinese is also the same, but I’m not 100% certain on that.
