This OP will be a living post, and will be edited as new information is available.

Admin note: While early news reports did not confirm that the 72 year old skier was Ron LeMaster, many close personal friends have confirmed.
Ron LeMaster was not a member here, however he met with us in person and gave us permission to allow his illustrations used in ski school conversations.
If you don't own one of his books, you should. Brilliant reading.
He will be greatly missed.
Peace and love to his family.

Here is an article, posted by @Bob Barnes confirming the sad news.

There are no other sources varifying this. Are we sure?

I've been trying to verify. Nothing conclusive so far.

It seems to be popping up in a few places, yet no release of ID by authorities.
That's pretty much what I'm seeing.

Oh, this is such tragic and sad news. Ron was a friend and one of the most curious, analytical, and insightful students of our sport ever. In addition to his meticulously illustrated books and articles, Ron was an occasional contributor to the skiing forums here and at EpicSki. He was a great explainer of the mechanics of our complex and fascinating sport, with contagious enthusiasm for exploring and discussing its mysteries, myths, and dogma. I am still hoping this news is mistaken. It will take some time to digest and process such a tragic loss of a friend and kindred spirit. It is a sad day.

The story you posted is the first I've seen with his name included. :(
Shortly after we launched SkiTalk/Pugski, we bumped into Ron in Colorado(he was with Mike Hafer at Arapahoe Basin) and talked to him about his illustrations. Much like his permission on Epic, he granted us permission to allow his illustrations to be used here.

My experience with him...Always inspiring goot skiing and always gracious.

Why is Angel Fire Ski and Snowboard School quoted in that article?
