Last night’s sunset.

Earlier today a doe and her two rapidly growing fawns (now teenagers) were sleeping in my backyard. Stayed there 5 hours or so. At about 6pm I glanced out the window and saw this gent resting on the lawn.

This is an old one, from August 28. This young osprey is just testing his wings, but he or she hasn't yet taken its first flight. It is just bouncing on the nest. Soon, soon...

This was an interesting and somewhat gruesome sight on a hike near Park City last week: a deer leg in a tree. Cached by a mountain lion, maybe?

we saw this fella on the trail yesterday. Fortunately, Gypsy saw him and really didn't want anything to do with it. which makes me comfortable if we ever run into one of it's noisy cousins.

I'd say at least 4'. Longer than your average "gimme" putt for sure.

From the picture, I thought it might be closer to 6'. What kind is it? At that size, any kind is "screamer" for me.

2 Western Diamondbacks this week. Somewhat unusual this time of year. Great for rodent control so I do not disturb them.

Not actually 'encountered' but that's a good thing. I was wondering who walked up the trail then realized it was Mr. Moose and friend. Pretty fresh looking.
