Really fun day at Snowbird! Definitely a bit icy on Peruvian & Little Cloud, but Mineral Basin was beautiful. I love skiers a little extra this time of the year, too – everyone I talked to on the lift was just having a great time.

A few more from 8 May 22, Snowbird.
Blue tram car still there, but going to be replaced soon.

This is about 5 secs before David had a ski brake failure, but no harm, ski recovered.

Rudi went retro with jacket from his old ski racing team/academy in the 1990s.

Sorry we missed @LuliTheYounger up at Snowbird today. Next year we have to have an all-Utah Ski Talk Day and get everyone together! If we can't all do same ski area, maybe a cookout in a backyard?

Had a great time with @Jim Kenney, @David Chaus, and Vince today at The Bird! Yes, it was firmer to start than a typical spring, but once things softened things in Mineral Basin were aces, and even Little Cloud and Peruvian were quite tasty!

Snowbird reporting 12" new snow last night.

But they don't reopen until next Friday.

Solid day at Snowbird today. 134 and last for me. Some of the most variable skiing I've ever done. My first run down Peruvian had 5" of powder, refrozen "grooming", and a firm wind/sun packed crust at the bottom which was just starting to soften up. Top half of the Cirque is open and it's skiing fantastic! First time I've gotten first tracks in that area (I've only got about 10 lifetime days at the Bird). Old Ladies was a gem today hidden in plain sight of the lift. At noon there was still 3" of powder in a 200 foot wide corridor that was horrific on either other side. Mineral did not turn to slush til late.


Get it while you can...blowtorch is coming and the fat lady is warming up with it. I doubt they get another weekend in given the forecast. Wet slides are gonna be a real issue Sunday.

Except back then it was called Charnita.

Yeah. Sounds like they'll try and make-do with the one cabin this summer - provided they don't drop it as well.
