I'd lean toward Copper tomorrow for the below-tree-line skiing—much better visibility than A-basin on a snowy and windy day.

I'm hoping to hit Spaulding and then Tucker tomorrow if anyone wants to join me!

Meanwhile, at Loveland today...

Another one run day that started at 8:30 and ended at about 3:15. I was starter for two two-run GS races with single digit temps and 20+ mph winds. Tomorrow we'll have two two-run SLs. We may see double digits. Temps that is.

So much for the cold. It's beautiful out here at Copper. Definitely no "should have been here yesterday".

Beautiful? :) I'm ready for some warm days. It barely got into double digits at the top of the hill. At least it wasn't crazy windy.

No surprise, the high north-facing terrain was wonderful. Other aspects were crunchy underneath.

Another shot from yesterday.

Our RA (race administrator) foreran a run. That's me as starter in my huge blue puffy coat and long black coat. A puffy sweater and turtleneck completed my cold weather protection. I wore heavy fleece pants over my long johns and under the ski pants. Despite the strong winds and single digit temps, I was comfortable all day.

It was cold again today but sunny until the final run of 4. Not so breezy either. Today's view upon getting off the lift the first (and only) time:

I entertained myself with a rake between runs. I dare you to step into the circle.

Saw the results on Live-Timing and was surprised to see the names of two guys I know from NY Masters.
Greg Sarkis is one I imagine; he skied well today. Who was the other? We had a number of guest racers as many were on their way to National, originally to be at Mammoth, now at Mt. Bachelor.

These are from last winter. First is Greg winning age class in the Nationals DH. Next is his second place in the Harold Westcott Memorial DH that followed. I'm wearing the Fuxi Flash shades. Frank Mangold is the other guy on the podium.

Greg was one-his and my home mountain is Bristol (which as you probably know his father was one of the founders), the other is Cal Baker (M9) from Holiday Valley. We drove through the tunnel on Saturday. If I'd planned better it would have been fun to race, even though I would have been one on the "also rans" in M10 ogsmile.

I agree, the weekend was cold especially Sat. That was brutal. March 25th and a -23 degrees wind chill?!? Wasn’t sure I was going to be able to get off the early morning trip up Excelerator. The wind was screaming. May have been the windiest I’ve seen it at the top of the lifts all season. @tball mentioned the lifts that shut down for the day but there were others experiencing wind holds also. At lunch time it was still -1 with a windchill of -18. At least on Sun, while it was still only -4 when I clicked in, the wind chill was nowhere near as bad.

@tball the snow was pretty good in Triple Treat. I especially liked it because it had been groomed a few days prior. Far East is too much work. :beercheer:

Cal had some good races, too, doing NY proud. I'm sorry you missed out on the chilly fun. I saw you driving by; you didn't wave.

Just kidding, but we can monitor I-70 from both the upper and lower starts.

s Cal Baker (M9) from Holiday Valley.

Dang, wish I would've shared a chair with him -- that's the mtn I grew up on.

Spent all weekend patrolling in the valley -- sure we crossed paths @Doug Briggs .

Still full on winter out there. Looks like my spring-hut-trip-for-big-lines should've been booked in May rather than April this year.

I met a fellow SkiTalker at the Breck ticket window to get him a Buddy pass for Vail and stayed to ski. Today was just too cold and poor visibility to stay out long, though. A few runs with my weekend neighbor and his friend left me chilled as I didn't dress like I should have. Heck it was 7° F at my house at 8, so much warmer than Saturday or Sunday. NOT! The mountain temps, humidity and foggy/snowy vis got me back home to work sooner than expected.

500 at the Boat is a new seasonal record I think. We are about to break 400 here at the Arizona Snowbowl..
The Boat reported 500” up top but having crested 400” officially. At least that’s what I read from them ogsmile.

Spring Break (at least my daughter’s high school week) looking gnarly. Seems like Quantitative Tightening is having an effect.

Granted I get quantitative tightening every time I sit down so that is also having an effect :P.
